What this site currently sets
This website sets one item of local storage, which remembers whether you have chosen the light or dark theme. It contains no personal data and is not transmitted anywhere.
It is stored only if you have accepted the Preferences category. If you have not, the theme toggle still works for the page you are on, but your choice is not remembered and any previously stored value is erased. A consent control that does not control anything would be worse than offering none.
We set no advertising cookies and no third-party tracking cookies.
Categories, and what each would be used for
When analytics is introduced, it will be organised into the categories below, and everything other than the strictly necessary category will be off until you turn it on.
- Strictly necessary — required for the site to function. Cannot be switched off.
- Preferences — remembers choices such as theme. Currently the only non-essential storage in use.
- Analytics — how the site is used in aggregate. Off by default.
- Marketing — measuring campaigns. Not in use, and will require explicit consent if it ever is.
Changing your mind
Your choices can be changed at any time from the cookie preferences link in the footer, and clearing your browser storage will reset them entirely.
Questions about this policy can be sent to us using the details on our contact page. We respond to policy queries within five working days. A complaint follows a separate route, set out in the consumer grievance policy.
